Completely agree. Our team explored this option as well and with 8 environments it wasn't an option. Indeed DEV have their own pipelines and OPS have their own pipelines and repos. We still use multi-branch, but in this case we use branches to keep track of versions, but each branch contains config for all environments for that version. Nice article!
